"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens." (Ecclesiastes 3:1) Solomon's words reveal a profound truth: God has His perfect timing.
We live in an age of instant gratification. Food delivery arrives in 30 minutes, online shopping delivers the next day, search engines give answers in 0.001 seconds. We're accustomed to speed and expect God's responses to be equally fast. But God's timing often differs from our expectations.
Abraham waited 25 years for the promised son Isaac. Moses shepherded in the wilderness for 40 years before being called to deliver Israel. Joseph spent years in prison before being elevated to prime minister of Egypt. These all remind us that God's timing is perfect, even when we can't immediately understand it.
I once prayed for a job for two years, failing every interview, and began to doubt whether God heard my prayers. Later, when I finally got a better job, I understood that God's delay was to give me the best. If I had gotten that job two years earlier, I would have missed this better opportunity that suits me now.
Waiting is not passive endurance but active trust. In waiting, God shapes our character, strengthens our faith, and prepares us to receive His blessings. Isaiah 40:31 says: "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength."
God's delay is not God's denial. Sometimes we're not ready to receive what God wants to give us. Sometimes circumstances aren't ripe. Sometimes others need time. God sees the whole picture while we can only see fragments.
In waiting, we should continue praying, continue serving, continue growing. Psalm 37:7 says: "Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him." This trust in waiting is itself worship to God.
Let us learn to synchronize with God's timing, believing that His time is always the best time.
